RELATED WORKSHOP:
INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON IDENTIFYING FUTURE THREATS TO FOOD SAFETY 5-6 March
Workshop on horizon scanning, to be held in London on 5 and 6 March, 2007
The ability to anticipate new threats to food safety is a key element in enhancing the Food Standards Agency ability to prevent incidents or react quickly to them if they do occur. This workshop will address how mechanisms can be developed to usefully utilise available information and sources of expertise in a way that tracks changes in technology, business practices and international experiences.
The program will include a key presentation from the Food Standards Agency on the results from a project that has been commissioned to investigate information sources and apply them to a methodology for threat analysis. The functionality of the methodology will be illustrated with examples derived from the area of environmental contaminants. It is anticipated that the workshop will attract a variety of knowledge and expertise from a number of different areas of food safety.
We would welcome the presence of your organisation at the workshop to share information on approaches to horizon scanning that you may have adopted. Your contribution to the discussions and your observations on the measures that we are considering adopting would be most valuable.
